ELMORE COUNTY -- Idaho State Police recovered the cell phone of the Caldwell teenager who died over the weekend in a crash with two semi-trucks.

Sunday night, we told you how 18-year-old Taylor Sauer, a former winner of our Distinguished Student Award, died in an accident on the freeway not far from Mountain Home.

ISP says Saturday around 9 p.m. she struck the back of a tanker truck going freeway speeds on Interstate 84. Her car was then hit by another semi-truck.

Moments before the crash, Sauer was involved in a Facebook conversation with friends. ISP is not confirming if Sauer was using her phone, but they will investigate her cell phone use.

Investigators also say Sauer did not brake before striking the back of the semi-truck which was traveling slowly up a hill.

ISP says the truck did have its flashers on.
