KETCHUM -- The Blaine County School District says neither the district nor its driving instructor were negligent or reckless in a crash last October that killed a 15-year-old student.

The Idaho Mountain Express reports the district made its statement in an answer to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of Austin Hennefer of Carey.

Dennis and Maryanne Hennefer allege that the driving instructor was negligent and reckless in having their son perform a three-point turn on an icy highway. The car was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle also is named in the lawsuit. No criminal charges were filed.
