CALDWELL -- A two-alarm fire in Caldwell has completely destroyed a house.

Fire officials say a man inside the home at 405 E. Freeport Street was cooking when the fire broke out. He was not injured, but the fire spread quickly and gutted the inside of the house.

The call for help was received around 11 a.m.

Caldwell firefighters got assistance from the Nampa Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived at the home, the nearest fire hydrant wasnot workingso they had to run a hose around the block to another hydrant. That delayed the firefighting efforts.

By noon the fire had been extinguished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
