NAMPA -- The city of Nampa doesn't want Canyon County Prosecutor John Bujak to personally benefit from a contract for his office to do work for the city.

In a letter Thursday, Nampa City Attorney Bill Nichols wrote the city finds Bujak's statements that he could get up to $50,000 from the $598,000 annual contract most troubling.

Nampa wants an immediate modification of the agreement so no money goes to Mr. Bujak.

Bujak has gone to court to keep details of the contract secret, after a resident filed a public records request.

Nampa said it strongly supports full disclosure.

A judge who considered the matter Thursday plans to decide in coming days whether to make the contract public.

Bujak declined to comment on Nampa's letter, saying he hadn't read it.
