CASCADE - The man killed in a collision between two small aircraft in rural Valley County Monday has been identified.

Valley County Coroner Nathan Hess says the man is 45-year-old Michael Bond of Colorado.

Bond's aircraft collided with another plane in mid-air above the Landmark Airstrip near Cascade. The pilot of the other plane, 52-year-old Amy Hoover of Ellensburg, Wash. was able to land safely after the collision. She was treated and released at a hospital in McCall.

But Bond's airplane was knocked out of the sky by the impact. He crashed to the ground, and the aircraft burst into flames, igniting a small forest fire.

There were no passengers in either craft.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
