MERIDIAN -- Several lanes were blocked on westbound I-84 and Meridian Road Thursday after a truck hit the overpass, causing concrete and debris fell onto the interstate.

Idaho State Police say at around 9:22 a.m. the overpass was damaged when it was struck by a 1997 Kenworth truck that was pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with an excavator. The excavator arm was extended and hit the overpass beam, causing damage to the overpass. The truck driver is a 26-year-old Nampa man.

The debris caused damage to three other vehicles. No injuries were reported.

The crash caused lane closures on the interstate and overpass for several hours while the transportation department assessed the damage.

All lanes on I-84 have since re-opened, but ITD says the northbound lane of Meridian Road will be closed through 5 a.m. Friday for repair work.
