JEROME COUNTY-- The Jerome County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for a burglar who has broken into multiple houses in the past several weeks.

Deputies say the man targets homes during the day by knocking on doors to see if the occupants are home. If no one comes to the door, deputies say, the suspect breaks in through an unlocked window or door or by forcing his way into the house.

The suspect is a Hispanic man in his mid-20s or 30s with black hair and a light beard. He is about 5'10 and between 180 and 200 pounds. Deputies say he may be driving a blue Chevy pickup with a white or light gray stripe.

The suspect typically targets rural areas of Jerome County.

Deputies are urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles, and record serial numbers or take photos of valuable property. Anyone with information about the man or the burglaries is asked to call their local law enforcement agency or the Jerome County Sheriff's Office at 324-1911.
