IDAHO CITY -- The sound of the cash register is music the ears of business owners in Idaho City. They are looking forward to a big Memorial Day Weekend business, and kicking off a busy summer season.

Our winters are very slow unless there's snowboarders coming up, or skiers, but the summers are what makes all the businesses survive up here, said Marie Hayes, who has worked at Donna's Place in Idaho City for several years.

Hayes and rest of the crew at Donna's Place spent the day getting ready for Memorial Day Weekend crowds.

The schedule is doubled so that you can take care of your customers, especially out in the restaurant half and the stocking is a horrendous, said Hayes.

She said everyone is looking forward to the influx of customers that summer time brings.

It's a flat mad house, it's just awesome, Hayes said. You've got people coming in constantly from seven o'clock in the morning until 11 o'clock at night. It's nice, it's busy.

Folks in Idaho City are optimistic that this Memorial Day Weekend will be the start to a good season.
