BOISE COUNTY -- The Boise County Sheriff's Office, Garden Valley firefighters, and Air St. Luke's are searching for a missing man in Boise County.
Authorities searched on ground and did not find him, so they had Air St. Luke's fly over the river. When they were still unable to locate him, they put a boat in the Payette River, but did not find him.
A commander on scene told KTVB that the 47-year-old man was part of a group of three from Cascade at the Skinny Dipper Hot Springs. They were about 30 feet up when he reportedly left the other two to go fill up his canteen in the river. No one has seen him since.
Crews looked for him when the call for help came in around 1:30 p.m. They called off the search for the night around 7 p.m.
Searchers said they found debris that may belong to a person.
We saw a little bit of debris come by at Banks, so we know some of the objects that were with him may have floated by already, but that doesn't mean that the individual did, said GardenValley Fire Chief, Jon Delvalle. The individual may still be hung up upstream.
Officials say the water is very cold and high. They ask that people use caution near the river, and keep their eyes peeled for anything that might help find the man.
