BOISE -- A Boise family was displaced after a fire broke out in their Boise Bench home Thursday.

The fire, which was reported at 8:13 a.m., started near the stove, Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said.

By the time firefighters got to the house, located at St Andrews Drive and Roosevelt Street, the fire had already spread to kitchen cabinets.

The firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before they reached the attic, but the house suffered severe smoke damage.

Two adults and two children were temporarily displaced. Hightower said they are being helped by the Burnout Fund.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
