BOISE -- Meridian police say the driver of a passenger car was driving distracted just before a crash that injured a passenger inside a landscaping truck Friday morning.

Officers say the crash happened around 8 a.m. near Locust Grove Road and Commercial Street.

That's when police say an 81-year-old woman driving a car traveling northbound on Locust Grove Road was trying to answer a cell phone just before losing control and swerving into oncoming traffic.

Police say the woman crossed the center lane of Locust Grove Road and hit a landscaping truck pulling a trailer that was headed south.

Police say a passenger riding in the landscaping truck was taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

Two other people drove themselves to the hospital.

A Meridian police sergeant says the 81-year-old woman who was driving the passenger car was cited for inattentive driving.
