BOISE A man who bills himself as the World s Largest Motorcycle Jumper was seriously injured while trying to jump over eight cars in Hobbs, New Mexico last Friday.

Lisa Line works with Big Ed Beckley and said the Texas stuntman suffered at least one broken rib and a bruised shoulder when his motorcycle crash landed on concrete.

He was moved out of the intensive care unit of the hospital Monday.

Beckley has been planning a jump across the Snake River Canyon in September to mark the 40th anniversary of Evil Knievel s failed attempt. He leased land from the state for a landing site on the north rim of the canyon for $943,000 back in September.

However, the Twin Falls City Council denied Beckley a special events permit last month, citing safety concerns, saying they needed more time to make the event safe for people and property.

Despite his injuries, Beckley is still planning to the Snake River jump. Line told KTVB that you can t keep a southern man down.

According to a friend s post on Facebook, Big Ed is in a lot of pain and has load road of recovery ahead. He hopes to be out the hospital later this week. He thanked all his fans for the well wishes.
