BOISE-- Police say it was likely the driver of small pickup who fled after hitting a pedestrian on State Street near Collister Drive early Friday morning.

Boise Police Department spokesman Chuck McClure says the deadly collision happened just after 1 a.m.

Officers say the man was hit while crossing the street on foot. He was taken to a local hospital and later died. Police say they can't release information on how the crash was reported, where exactly the man was struck, what way he was facing, or what direction the pickup came from.

Officers who searched the area couldn't find the driver of the pickup suspected in the crash.

They say the vehicle in question may be a light, gold-colored smaller pickup, possibly a mid-to-late 90s Ford Ranger. The vehicle will most likely have damage to the front.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, or log onto www.343cops.com, or text CRIMES or 274637, subject: Tip236.

The crash is the second deadly hit-and-run reported in the area in the last 10 days.
