BOISE -- The Bureau of Land Management is reporting that multiple new wildfires have started from the storms that passed through southwest Idaho Thursday.

Officials say that most of the fires were small due to the quick response from fire crews, however crews will continue the area for any additional activity.

The fires include:

Shoo Fly Fire

  • Location: 23 miles southwest of Grandview, Idaho
  • Estimated Size: 100 acres
  • Resources: Four engines, one dozer and one water tender. Ground resources had assistants from multiple single engine air tankers
  • Estimated Containment: August 23 at Midnight
  • Estimated Control: August 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Cow Fire

  • Location: South of Jordan Valley, Oregon
  • Estimated Size: 25 acres
  • Resources: Two engines from Vale BLM, and the Owyhee Rural Fire Protection Association is also helping them.
  • Estimated Containment: Unknown
  • Estimated Control: Unknown

Orchard Fire

  • Location: 10 miles south of Interstate 84 west of Simco Road
  • Estimated Size: 20 acres
  • Resources: Two BLM engines, and resources from the Orchard Training Range
  • Estimated Containment: Unknown
  • Estimated Control: Unknown
  • BLM officials say all forward progression on the Orchard Fire has been stopped at this time

Dietrich Butte Fire

  • Location: Dietrich Butte
  • Estimated size: 250 acres
  • Resources: Seven engines, one dozer, one water tender, one fire investigator and two overhead
  • Estimated containment: August 23 at 6 p.m
  • Estimated control: August 24 at 6 p.m.

Chance Fire

  • Location: Owyhee River Wilderness, 60 miles south of Jordan Valley, north of the Nevada/ Oregon border.
  • Estimated Size: 300 acres
  • Resources: Six smokejumpers and some retardant drops by single engine air tankers
  • Containment: August 23 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Estimated Control: Unknown

Juni Fire

  • Location: 32 miles south of Jordan Valley
  • Estimated Size: 2,226 acres
  • Containment: 80 percent
  • Estimated Containment: Unknown
  • Estimated Control: Unknown
  • BLM officials say fire crews are now focusing on securing the fire lines and mopping up hot spots. They also say that burnouts along Juniper Mountain and Mud Flat Roads were completed on Wednesday.

Rough Fire

  • Location: South of Juniper Mountain
  • Estimated Size: 0.1 acre
  • Resources: Two smokejumpers
  • Contained: August 22 at 11:00 p.m.
  • Estimated Control: sometime during the night of August 23

Swan Falls Fire

  • Location: Along Swan Falls Road, around 3 miles north of Swan Falls Dam
  • Size: 64 acres
  • Contained: August 22 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Estimated Control: August 22 at 8:30 p.m.
  • BLM officials say the fire died out when it burned into the road
