CALDWELL A Nampa man has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree murder, according to Canyon County officials.

Christopher Duran entered the plea in a Canyon County courtroom Tuesday morning.

The 25-year-old Duran is one of three men charged in connection with the murder of 27-year-old James Groat of Nampa whose body was found near Lake Lowell last summer. The shooting is believed to happen on or about August 27, 2012.

Last Friday, a Canyon County jury found 33-year-old Gregory Higgins guilty of first-degree murder and a weapons enhancement. Police say he was the trigger man in Groat s death.

Duran testified against Higgins during the trial.

Investigators say Higgins and two accomplices lured Groat into a remote area where Higgins accused Groat of being a police informant. He tossed him a shovel, told him to dig his own grave and then shot him five times. The body was found the next day.

Sentencing for Duran is set for October 3 at 9 a.m.
