BOISE -- Idaho State Police say the driver of a motorcyclist and a passenger were thrown from his bike Saturday just after 10 a.m., when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and sideswiped the concrete barrier.

It happened on Interstate 184 between 13th Street and the Garden City exit.

Witnesses told police the 1997 Honda motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed coming on to I-184 from Front Street.

Neither the driver, 47-year-old Todd W. Johnson, of Nampa, nor his passenger 25-year-old Shawna E. Henkel, of Nampa, were wearing helmets.

Johnson was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, and Henkel was taken to St. Luke's in Meridian.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
