BOISE -- The Idaho chapter of the American Red Cross, along with the Boise Fire Department are assisting a man who lost everything he owned, including his dog, in a house fire.

The fire erupted in a mobile home on Tahiti Street, near Ustick and Five Mile roads at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday night.

A man in his 30's lived alone in the home, said Boise Fire battalion chief Jim Gross. The man wasn't home when the fire broke out. His dog, which was inside at the time, perished.

Gross tells KTVB that the fire started somewhere in the kitchen of older-style mobile home. He said conditions were hazardous for firefighters because the floor had holes in it and there were a lot of personal belongings inside.

The resident is getting financial help from the Red Cross and the Boise Fire Department's Burnout Fund.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
