ESTACADA, Ore. A man in Estacada used his 7-month-old son as a human shield during a standoff with police, authorities said.

Police were trying to arrest Raleigh Reynolds in connection with a burglary when they saw him run from his house, jump a fence and hide at his sister s house next door, said Nate Thompson with the Clackamas County Sheriff s Office.

When Reynolds finally came outside, police said he tried to used his infant son as a shield between him and officers.

Reynolds eventually surrendered. The baby was not hurt.

Reynolds was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on charges of burglary, endangering welfare of a minor and resisting arrest.

Reynolds was also arrested in February for felony drug charges after he inadvertently dialed 9-1-1 just before a drug deal.
