GARDEN CITY -- A Boise man is in the Ada County Jail after police say he tried to ram a squad car during a high speed chase Thursday night.

Police say the chase started around 10 p.m. when officers tried to stop and question 54-year-old Derrell Nevil from Boise.

According to reports, Nevil's car was backed up to a closed business in a suspicious manner.

Garden City Police say he sped away, leading police on a high-speed chase. Police say Nevil's vehicle reached speeds in excess of 30 mph over the posted limit during the chase. They also say he made an overt attempt to ram a police car trying to assist in the chase.

Police say the chase continued through the Ada County Fairgrounds where Nevil was finally boxed in by deputies and taken into custody.

No one was injured.

He's charged with felony aggravated assault on a police officer, felony eluding police, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Nevil is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
