CALDWELL -- Police in Caldwell say a Nampa man was driving too fast for the conditions when he lost control of his car and crashed into a business this morning.

Officers were dispatched at 7:39 a.m. to the intersection of Laster Lane and Cleveland Boulevard in Caldwell. There they found a 2004 Ford Focus that was completely inside the American Family Insurance business.

Investigators say the driver, 20-year-old Carlos Velazquez was not injured, and there were no employees in the office at the time of the accident.

Police say that Velazquez was westbound on Cleveland Boulevard when he started to make a lane charge and lost control of his car. He left the roadway, struck a stop sign, went over some landscaping and through a parking lot before crashing into the building.

The damage to the building is estimated to be around $50,000.

Velazquez was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor.

This is the second time this week a Caldwell business has been badly damaged by a vehicle. Early Sunday morning a man drove his pickup truck into the His & Hers Hair Salon.
