CALDWELL -- A semi truck erupted in flames on I-84 late Saturday, forcing police to shut down the interstate for a time.

Idaho State Police got the call around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night that a semi truck trailer was on fire near the Sand Hollow exit of I-84 in Canyon County. A short time later, officers on scene reported that the cab was also fully engulfed.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were shut down while crews worked to put out the fire and clear the scene. Traffic was diverted onto Old Highway 30. Westbound I-84 was re-opened at about 11:30 p.m.

The truck was hauling frozen food, police said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
