CALDWELL -- A Nampa man convicted of lewd conduct with a minor will spend at least 10 years in prison for his crimes against two teenagers.

Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor says this is not the first time 29-year-old Steven Ward has been found guilty of lewd conduct. He was previously convicted in 2002.

Judge James C. Morfitt sentenced Ward to 30 years in prison Friday. He could be eligible for parole after 10 years.

Prosecutors say Ward met his victims over the Internet. Both were 15 years old. He posed as an 18-year-old woman who introduced them to Ward. He then groomed the victims and engaged in sexual acts with them.

Despite the prior conviction and prison sentence, Mr. Ward re-offended, said Taylor. Clearly he will not stop preying upon innocent children and needs to be incarcerated.

Ward must also register as a sex offender upon his release from prison, pay a $5,000 civil penalty and have no contact with the victims.
