PORTLAND -- The U.S. Attorney from Oregon charged the couple from last year's violent murder spree with crimes including racketeering and kidnapping to promote hate crimes.
David Joey Pedersen, 32, and Holly Grigsby, 25, both from Portland, were already sentenced to life in prison in Washington for a 10-day crime spree that stretched down to California and included four murders.
The couple also face similar charges in Oregon .
The indictment in this case alleges horrendous crimes were committed as part of defendants white-supremacist campaign to kidnap and murder targets on the basis of race, color, religion, and perceived degenerate conduct, said U.S. Attorney Amanda Marshall. We hope this indictment brings the victims families one step closer to justice.
Pedersen and Grigsby pleaded guilty to killing Pedersen's father, Red Pedersen, and his wife, Leslie Pedersen, in Everett, Wash. at the end of September 2011.
Pedersen also admitted to killing 19-year-old Cody Myers near Mary's Peak in Oregon because he had a Jewish sounding last name, and a black man who he thought was a drug dealer.
On October 5, 2011 the couple was arrested near Yuba City, Calif. with several guns in their possession.
Prosecutors allege that the couple were members of a criminal enterprise that engaged in acts of violence and other criminal activity to promote a white supremacist movement.
