MERIDIAN-- A heartwarming rescue in Meridian today and this one is just plain 'ducky.'

Meridian firefighters were called out to scoop baby ducklings out of a storm drain.

Those at the Spring Creek Assisted Living facility in Meridian have been watching this family of ducks all spring.

They called firefighters this morning when the ducklings disappeared, and then called KTVB to document the rescue.

I come to bring some trash out, and she was pretty cranky over that storm drain and we got looking -- and sure enough, said Don Walker, an employee of Spring Creek Assisted Living who was watching an anxious mother duck.

In the future the center plans to put mesh screens on their storm drains to protect their little feathered friends.
