BOISE -- A three-month-old boy died early Saturday morning at St. Luke's, and his father has been arrested in connection to the baby's death.
The Ada County Coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The boy's father, 19-year-old Reynaldo Lucas Sanchez is in the Ada County Jail. He was arrested Friday night on charges of felony injury to a child. Investigators will use the new information and evidence to decide what new charges will be filed. In the meantime, Sanchez is being held on a $1 million bond.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office says Sanchez called neighbors Friday morning saying his son had fallen out of an infant bouncy seat and was hurt. The neighbors went to check on the baby and called 911 around 10:25 a.m. They reported a baby had fallen out of an infant bouncy seat, wasn't responding and needed medical help.
Ada County Paramedics went to the 5000 block of South Staaten Place in Boise. They found the 3-month old with life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics took the baby to St. Luke's in Meridian with 'significant injuries to his head and body'. He was later moved to St. Luke's in Boise, where he died around 1:30 Saturday morning.
Because of the injuries, deputies began investigating and decided the baby's injuries didn't appear to be from a fall from a bouncy seat. Instead, deputies believe the injuries were caused by Sanchez.
Sanchez rents a room at the home where deputies responded. He and the baby were the only two people in the home at the time of the injury.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
