BOISE - A Boise couple was hospitalized after their mobile home burned Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started just before 4:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Dorothy Avenue in southeast Boise, and firefighters quickly called for a second alarm.

The trailer was fully engulfed, and flames had begun to spread toward nearby homes, Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan said.

It melted the siding on the duplex behind it, but firefighters were able to attack it from the opposite side and protect those exposures, he said.

Doan credited the fast response for keeping the fire from spreading to more homes.

They did a great job saving the duplex behind this home, he said.

But the mobile home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the couple told fire officials they had been burning candles when the blaze began.

Neither of the residents were injured, but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
