VALLEY COUNTY - An Oregon man was seriously injured Sunday morning when his small plane went down near the Big Creek Airstrip.

The Valley County Sheriff's Office says Jay Minor, 71, was piloting a Cessna 182 when the crash happened at about 8:30 a.m.

Minor was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with life-threatening injuries. He was listed in critical condition Monday morning.

He was the only person in the plane, and no one on the ground was hurt, sheriff's officials say.

Valley County has been the site of six aircraft crashes resulting in 9 deaths in the past year.
