NAMPA - No one was injured in a Friday morning crash that happened after the driver of a landscaping truck ran a stop sign, causing a collision with a car carrying young children.

The wreck happened at about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 11th Avenue North and 1st Street in Nampa. Police say the truck driver was headed south on 11th Avenue North when he reached the intersection of 1st Street.

Despite the designation as a right turn only, the driver tried to go straight, running the stop sign and continuing into the intersection. Witnesses say he tried to speed up to make it across when the Toyota approached on 1st Street, but did not make it. The Toyota slammed into the driver's side of the truck.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but luckily, neither the truck driver nor the family in the Toyota, which included a young boy and girl, were injured. Both children were secured in booster seats, police say.

Police say the truck driver will be cited with reckless driving. The road is now open.
