BOISE -- A search is under way for an inmate who escaped from the Adams County Jail in Council Saturday night, according to the Idaho Department of Correction.

47-year-old Robert Michael Williston apparently scaled the jail's fence to make his escape, officials said.

Williston has a long criminal record including convictions for grand theft, burglary, grand larceny, fraudulent use of a financial transaction card, and attempted strangulation.

His sentence was to be completed in 2025.

Williston is described as Asian-American with black hair, although the Adams County Sheriff's Office said his head was shaved at the time of escape.

Anyone with information about Williston s whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
