BOISE -- Automatic sprinklers are credited with putting out a fire in a shop area of a West Boise car dealership Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out sometime before 4 p.m. at Peterson Chevrolet on West Fairview Avenue.

Firefighters say an employee heard an alarm and quickly called 911. Once on scene, firefighters went into the shop at the back of the dealership and found heavy smoke and the sprinklers on.

The fire started in an area of the shop with a work bench and containers of solvents. Investigators are looking into what caused it.

There's no word on the extent of damage.
