BOISE -- A man is in the hospital after a hit and run crash with a power pole.

Boise Police say 30-year-old Jason A. Burton crashed his car into a power pole near the intersection of Cole Road and Cascade Street shortly after 8 p.m. Monday night then took off on foot.

Several witnesses reported a 4-door Hyundai crossing into traffic, nearly striking cars in both lanes of traffic and making no attempt to stop.

Police found a man matching witness descriptions walking just four blocks east of the crash. They were able to identify him as the driver of the Hyundai and arrest him for leaving the scene of the accident, failure to purchase a driver's license and negligent driving. During the booking process, Burton complained of medical issues so police transported him to hospital.

Police had Cole Road south of Fairview Avenue blocked as crews dealt with downed power lines. Lanes have been reopened, but crews remain on scene.

At one point Monday night, Idaho Power reported an outage affecting 2,700 customers from Northview to the railroad tracks and from Curtis to Cole.

According to the Idaho Power emergency services line, power was restored early Tuesday morning to all customers in the area.
