BOISE -- An Eagle man has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter for a crash that killed his female passenger last November.

The crash happened in the early morning hours of Nov. 1, 2014.

Idaho State Police say 25-year-old Andrew Cassell's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit when he got behind the wheel of a 2004 Kia Optima and crashed into a power pole on State Street.

His passenger, 21-year-old Aldina Ekic, died at the scene.

During a pre-trial conference Monday morning Cassell changed his plea to guilty. Prosecutors say a plea deal was offered, but it was rejected.

His sentencing is scheduled for April 30. Cassell could get up to 15 years in prison.

According to court documents, Cassell has a long criminal history dating back to 2005. It includes several speeding charges, along with driving without privileges, and drug and alcohol violations.
