Boise -- More than 3,000 Treasure Valley kids will receive holiday toys thanks to community donations collected Saturday at local Fred Meyer stores.

The event is popularly known as Stuff the Bus.

Students and staff from Rocky Mountain highs School and Eagle high schools also pitched in.

The schools competed to see which group could bring in the most donations to the Fred Meyer store near the intersection of Chinden Boulevard and Linder Road.

While the numbers aren't final, Rocky Mountain High School is in the lead so far with 320 toys. Eagle High School has brought in 230 toys so far.

The Salvation Army will distribute the toys just before Christmas.
