BOISE COUNTY -- A boulder the size of a washing machine blocked traffic on Highway 55 near Gardena for more than an hour and a half Tuesday afternoon.

The rock fall was reported to Boise County dispatch at 3 p.m.

The impacted area was at milepost 71 between Gardena Road and Garden Valley Road. That's north of Horseshoe Bend.

Boise County dispatch say the southbound lane was blocked while crews responded and removed the giant boulder. Both lanes of Highway 55 were flowing normally again around 4:40 p.m.
