BOISE -- This month, Boise pastor Saeed Abedini marked one year in an Iranian prison, one year of his eight-year sentence.

For my kids, they would say it feels like ten years because they're so young and every day is a long time for them, but for me it's felt longer, said Saeed's wife, Naghmeh Abedini.

Naghmeh Abedini is now a solo parent who spends much of her time crusading for her husband's freedom.

I've decided to move forward, take it a day at a time, continue to fight for his release, said Naghmeh Abedini.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is coming to New York in a few days for a gathering of the United Nations, and Naghmeh Abedini has planned a trip to New York City to be there when President Rouhani arrives.

On Wednesday, Iran released several prisoners and the news made Naghmeh Abedini have a glimmer of hope. I'm hoping that Saeed would be next. I'm not being too hopeful but it's a good sign.

Idaho's U.S. Senators aren't sure what this means for the U.S. and for Saeed.

Historically we've had a really bad experience with Iran and the administration keeping its commitments. Admittedly, we have a new president here, but I'm still skeptical but I'm willing to wait and see what happens, said U.S. Senator Jim Risch of Idaho.

It causes one to speculate that perhaps it was a gesture of good faith, but I'm not ready to assume that until I understand much more about the circumstances, said U.S. Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho.

Still, Naghmeh Abedini believes Saeed will be freed. My daughter said, 'How many more birthdays, mom?' and I couldn't tell her, because the reality is, he got eight years so it's a lot more birthdays, said Naghmeh Abedini. But I'm not going to believe that, I'm going to believe that he's going to come home soon. I can't lose my hope.

On September 26 at noon, there will be a prayer vigil in Boise for Saeed at the Idaho State Capitol, and at the the same time around 70 cities and 14 countries will also be praying for Saeed.
