JEROME, Idaho -- Officers with the Idaho State Police are investigating a two-car crash that claimed the life of a Wendell woman and injured two children in her car on Monday.

The collision happened on 375 West Road in Jerome County Monday afternoon.

Police say 27-year-old Chasity Pearson was driving with two children in her vehicle, when for an unknown reason, she crossed into oncoming traffic.

She struck the trailer of a nearby truck in the road.

Police say Pearson died at the scene.

One child was taken to Boise by air ambulance, the other was transported to St. Luke's hospital in Jerome, according to reports.
