BOISE -- The trial of a retirement account trustee charged with misusing some of those funds in his failed bid to by the Tamarack Resort is almost ready to be handed to the jury.
Defense lawyers wrapped up their case Thursday in the fraud trial of Matthew D. Hutcheson at the U.S. District Court in Boise.
Hutcheson faces 17 counts of wire fraud for taking $5 million from retirement funds he oversaw to buy cars, pay for additions to his Eagle house and buy the mortgage on Tamarack's golf course.
On the stand Thursday, Hutcheson told jurors he never intended to risk retiree investments, and argued instead he invested in the resort with the ultimate goal of increasing returns.
Attorneys will give closing arguments Monday before the jury begins its deliberations.
