TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- A southern Idaho judge has turned down a request to move the murder trial of a man charged with killing his brother.
The defense attorney for 33-year-old Damon Azure asked for the trial to be moved outside of Twin Falls County because of media coverage. But The Times-News reports 3rd District Judge Randy Stoker denied that motion Thursday, saying the media coverage has been neither sensational nor inaccurate, and he doesn't anticipate problems finding a fair jury.
Azure was charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 12 death of 31-year-old Seanachan Azure, who was shot in the head, mouth and torso near Kimberly.
Damon Azure was declared dangerously mentally ill in March, but after spending time at the Idaho Security Medical Program he was declared competent for trial.
