SPOKANE, Wash.-- A teenage driver lost control of her car early Tuesday while driving on Highway 395 near Hatch.

Police said the 17-year-old girl was headed south on Highway 395 around 8 a.m. when a spider dropped into her face. The girl swatted at the spider, panicked, and lost control of her car. The car then flipped three times before coming to a rest in the median.

Emergency crews had to cut the roof off the car to get her out of the vehicle. Authorities said the girl was walking and talking on scene, but was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. They said she likely only suffered a few bumps and bruises.

Part of the southbound lanes were blocked while crews cleared the scene. No citations were issued.
