OAKLEY, Idaho -- Residents who were evacuated due to the Cave Creek fire burning about eight miles south of Hansen were allowed back to their homes as of 6 p.m. Sunday.

Nearly 40 homes in the Rock Creek drainage were evacuated on August 10.

The Cave Fire is burning in the Minidoka Complex on on the Sawtooth National Forest and the BLM Twin Falls District lands.

Although officials have let permanent residents return to their homes, the Rock Creek Road is closed off to summer homeowners at the fire boundary line.

There is a guard where the road is closed preventing folks from going farther up the road.
