IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- The former manager of an eastern Idaho sewer district has been sentenced to five years of probation for mishandling the district's money.
The Post Register reports Dorothy McCarty was sentenced Thursday in Bonneville County for failing to deposit nearly $1,100 of the Iona-Bonneville Sewer District's money.
She was originally charged with 13 felony counts of misusing public money after prosecutors said she failed to deposit more than $17,000, but a prosecutor for the Idaho Attorney General's Office dismissed all but one charge in exchange for her modified guilty plea. McCarty entered an Alford plea, refusing to admit guilt but acknowledging that there was enough evidence to convict her.
Judge Jon Shindurling ordered McCarty to pay more than $2,200 in restitution.
