NAMPA -- A second high school is going up in the Vallivue School District.

Today was the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Ridgevue High School.

The new school is being built on Madison Road near Linden Road, in Nampa.

The 250,000 square-foot building is on 65 acres.

The project includes a stadium with a football field and track, a baseball diamond and practice field.

Inside the school will be a 1,000 seat commons area and 60 classrooms. Initially, 1,100 students are predicted to enroll. The school will have a 1,800 student capacity.

Our current high school is full, we think we will have 1,900 students this fall in a school that's built for 1,750, so this school is really needed, said Superintendent Pat Charlton.

Ridgevue High School is set to open in the fall of 2016.
