MERIDIAN -- Veterans, families and friends gathered at the Rock of Honor in Julius Kleiner Park in Meridian today for a Memorial Day service.
The memorial was created just a couple of years ago.
Organizers say they see it as a celebration of life.
There are more than 60 names of veterans on the wall, and today the names were read aloud by one of the memorial's organizers.
When we built this wall, we built it as a tribute to our brothers who sacrificed themselves for their loved ones, their buddies in battle and their families back home, said John Burns, President, Rock of Honor Board.
The Rock of Honor Memorial is a joint venture of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the city of Meridian.
