BOISE -- The Idaho Department of Correction is asking for the public's help in locating a fugitive believed to be in the Boise area.

David Persons, 32, was sentenced last September in Boise County to two to 10 years for vehicular manslaughter for an automobile crash that killed his stepdaughter. Four-year-old Pearl Sittner died in 2012 when the SUV Persons was driving plunged off Arrowrock Road into the reservoir.

Persons was released on probation in March after completing an intensive drug and alcohol treatment program. He is wanted for failing to maintain contact with his probation officer.

Authorities say Persons has a violent history that includes convictions for battery on a law enforcement officer and arson. He is known to frequent downtown Boise.

He is a white male with brown hair, hazel eyes and a fair complexion. He is 6-foot-1 and weighs 215 pounds. He has distinctive tattoos on his forearms and hands.

Anyone with information about Persons whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
