BOISE -- Idaho Power says about 1,700 customers in west Boise were without electricity for one hour and 25 minutes this afternoon.
Spokesman Brad Bowlin says a bird flew into a transformer at the intersection of Maple Grove and Franklin roads and caused the outage. Crews were able to quickly replace the transformer and get the power back on at 1:59 p.m. The outage was reported at 12:34 p.m.
The outage impacted several areas including the Boise Towne Square Mall.
The first area stretched from Fairview Avenue to Franklin Road and Milwaukee Street to Mitchell Street.
The second area was from Maple Grove Road to Five Mile Road and Emerald Street to Interstate 84.
The Ada County Highway District reported that several traffic signals were not working during the outage. Those signals are working properly again.
