VALE, Ore. -- A woman was injured Sunday afternoon after losing control of her car and crashing into a power power pole on Highway 20, according to Oregon state Police.

The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. just west of Vale.

Police say the 35-year-old Vale woman was driving westbound when another vehicle passed her. As the woman slowed down, she lost control of the car, which spun off the road, struck a power pole, a gas meter, mail boxes, and a sign, police said.

Power lines fell onto the roadway, forcing police to shut down the road for about an hour until they could be cleared.

Police say the driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Ontario before being transferred to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The woman's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Oregon State troopers are investigating the crash.
