NAMPA -- The 2013 Nampa Christmas tree is in place in Downtown Nampa.

The tree, a 30 foot tall blue spruce, was donated by Nampa residents Jenica and Erik Lawrence.

The Lawrence's neighbors say the previous owners of the property brought the tree down from Arrowrock Dam and planted it in their front yard more than 40 years ago.

At the time it was just three and a half feet tall. It's now almost ten times that size.

The tree was cut down and transported to Horse Mural Park, at the corner of 12th Avenue South and 1st Street South in Downtown Nampa.

City officials say it will be decorated with 1,200 to 1,500 lights.

The tree lighting ceremony is planned for Monday, November 25 at 6 p.m.
