BOISE -- Police have cleared a building on the HP campus after a safety sweep this morning. No viable threat was found.
Police and private security officers conducted a sweep of a building leased to the Maximus company on the Hewlett-Packard Boise campus near Chinden Boulevard in west Boise.
More than 1,000 employees were reportedly evacuated as of 8:30 Tuesday morning.
Police say Maximus gave its employees the opportunity to freely leave the campus about an hour later. They say it was a private decision by Maximus and not a safety requirement.
The police sweep came after employees reported finding a suspicious note early in the day.
Boise police believe there's no widespread threat to the public because of the note. Furthermore, department spokesperson Lynn Hightower said the police sweep was precautionary and the note wasn't necessarily a threat.
I don't want to characterize it as a threat, Hightower told KTVB.
HP employees are reportedly being asked to shelter in place and stay away from windows during the sweep.
