MILL CREEK, Wash. -- Snohomish County officials have ended an Amber Alert in effect for a baby girl born in Mill Creek Friday morning who was abducted by the baby's mother. The infant is suffering from a life-threatening medical condition and was in need of medical attention.
The newborn, Annabelle Martini, was taken by Jaime Martini, 20. She had last been seen Friday morning at The Mill at Mill Creek apartment complex in the 1100 block of Mill Creek Boulevard.
On Saturday morning, Mill Creek Police said Martini and the baby were found. They were taken to an Everett hospital where the baby was listed in satisfactory condition.
Mill Creek police say Martini delivered the baby around 6:30 a.m. Friday at the Mill Creek apartment complex with the help of a midwife. The midwife called 911 to report the baby was having difficulty breathing and was not responsive. Police were dispatching an aid car but canceled it when Jaimie Martini said she was taking the baby to a hospital at the insistence of the midwife. However, she and the baby did not check in at any area hospitals.
Police believe Jamie Martini's aunt may have picked her and the baby up from the apartment complex. Police were in contact with the aunt, but they say she was not cooperating with them.
Police say Martini does not live at the Mill Creek apartment where she gave birth. Officials have not said whose residence it is.
