CALDWELL -- Police have identified the man who died after a crash in Caldwell Saturday night.

26-year-old Manuel Cortez died at the hospital about an hour after being ejected from a car when it flipped over, police said.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Orchard Avenue between S. 10th Avenue and Montana Avenue.

Police say the driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Cortez was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle when it rolled.

Evidence suggests that high speeds may have been a contributing factor in the crash, police said.

It is not yet known if alcohol played a role.
